word training

Can we ensure that Word will save your documents automatically.

The answer is Yes but there is a but!

Here we show you how.

The steps involved to save your documents are:

  • Turn on AutoRecover
  • Set the Save Interval i.e how many minutes between each save

We do this by clicking Word Training Tools then Word Training Optionsand then click the Save Tabsave your documents
Our advice is not to rely entirely on AutoRecover because you can get corruption

Having selected an AutoRecover Save Frequency, Microsoft Word will automatically save a temporary backup of your document.

This will enable you to recover your document in the event of a disaster

After a crash Microsoft Word will attempt to recover your document
by displaying the Document Recovery Pane.save your documents

Note that 2 files are visible here

  • "Original" (You saved this one manually)
  • "Recovered" (Saved by AutoRecover)

Your job now is to check each copy of the document and retain the best one

We strongly recommend that you save your documents on external devices also
Floppy Disks, CD ReWritables, Memory Sticks or External Hard Drives
